It's nice to see someone wanted this to be updated ;-)
Please wait the current package to hit the testing and I make
stable-proposed-upload.

Getmail 3 -> 4 was disruptive. So I think the previous maintainer chose
to migrate from getmail to getmail4.

As I see, it is very mature. The version bump is mostly due to hitting
too big a number for the minor version, and upstream is making some
continual non-disruptive feature additions only now.

So unless I get major opposition, I will upload as getmail.

My only concern is these version related package name change still need
to wait over a week even if it closes RC bug. See anthy etc:

 https://ftp-master.debian.org/new.html

(This is bugging me. I can't upload new ibus-anthy etc.)

getmail4 -> getmail will not even have RC bug to be fixed.

So it may take some time to get out of the NEW queue.

Regards,

Osamu
