Package: php5-common Version: 5.6.30+dfsg-0+deb8u1 Severity: normal This is not a repeat of bug #812323 which listed two issues:
- why are there two 'short_open_tag's in php.ini - why is it default 'off' only the second question was answered, the first still occurs. This is still a bug. This caused me and many others to spend hours wondering why our changes to php.ini setting short_open_tag = On wasn't working. Much 3rd party software written in PHP depends on short_open_tags - not all software can be easily updated to use long open tags. see https://stackoverflow.com/questions/12579448/php-short-open-tag-on-not-working No other debian package has multiple repeat directives in a central conf file where the second overrides the first. This is confusing. While using a conf.d/file to override the directive with local admin's choice may work, it's still counterintuitive to have repeat entries. /kc -- Ken Chase - Guelph Canada
