This bug is now at least 5 years old and IMHO seems to suggest that the package
simply does not work. Should we consider dropping it?

Indeed the bug is old, but the package works fine in most situations.

this is one of my servers, it worked fine for the last 3 years, and I have
older servers where its working fine too

regardless, I ack the program is only a toy and a bit buggy, i wanted to
rewrite it in python for some time but i never found the time.
I don't think it should be removed from Debian
