Package: lists.debian.org Severity: wishlist I am requesting a mailing list named:
gopher or gopher-project which would probably be hosted as other.debian.org. Rationale: The Gopher project is a loose community surrounding the Internet Gopher (UMN Gopher) protocol, which dates back to the early 1990s. In Debian, packages such as pygopherd, curl, forg, etc. are part of this project. Other Open Source clients and servers exist as well, which are not packaged up in Debian. Additionally, efforts exist for archiving and preserving this slice of Internet history. This mailing list has been hosted on Alioth at https://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/gopher-project for some time, and prior to that, was hosted on my personal server. The mailing list has existed and remained active for 17 years. Short description: Internet Gopher projects and discussion Long description: Development, user support, and historical preservation relating to the Internet Gopher protocol. Category: Other Subscription policy: Open Post Policy: Open Web Archive: Yes Moving existing list: Yes. If my assistance is required to grab the Alioth subscriber list, I can do so. Thanks, John -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.2 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system)
