I probably already fixed it without knowning it in https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/gkdebconf.git/commit/?id=1f998200 The old debian/rules file had this line: $(MAKE) install prefix=`pwd`/debian/gkdebconf/usr mandir=`pwd`/debian/gkdebconf/usr/share/man … which is horribly wrong. Someone meshed up PREFIX and DESTDIR. Should be fixed with the next upload.
