Sputnik's main developer announced that the program was officially
abandoned on May 24, 2014, and has not been maintained upstream since
its last release in 2012.
This is mentioned on Sputnik's homepage
(http://sputnik.freewisdom.org/), Sputnik's news feed
(http://sputnik.freewisdom.org/en/Timeline), and on Sputnik's GitHub
account (https://github.com/yuri/sputnik). All Sputnik forks on GitHub
are also abandoned.
Given that Sputnik is a web-facing CMS, its being abandoned for several
years creates a security risk for users. Unless Sputnik is again
actively developed, it should be removed from the repos.
I am using Debian GNU/Linux 9.1, kernel 4.12.0-0.bpo.1-amd64, and libc6
2.24-11+deb9u1, but this issue affects Debian users from Wheezy to Sid.
