I'm sorry to say that but this is not a bug.
Waking the machine up after the cover has been opened is a hardware
function I can't influence by software. There might be an undocumented
function of the PMU but I don't know it. All pbbuttonsd possibly could
do is to sent the machine back to sleep, after detecting that you
doesn't want the machine to wake up, but in your case I think this
is not possible, sorry.
