I'm happy to report I worked around the bug by
changing line 6 of
/usr/share/kdenlive/export/profiles.xml
from
acodec=vorbis
to
acodec=libvorbis
Someone using the nick name "furq" on freenode's
#ffmpeg channel showed me that ffmpeg's web site
recommends using libvorbis

Maybe you'd like to change line 6 of debian's copy
of
