Mlt has currently two video stabilizing plugins - vidstab and vidstab2. Sadly 
both are consider unmaintained/deprecated 
(https://sourceforge.net/p/mlt/bugs/252/). Please consider recompiling with 
current vid.stab plugin.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
