According to file it is a ELF 64-bit LSB shared > object, x86-64, version 1 (GNU/Linux) [...] I'm going to make a sweeping assumption here that e2fsprogs belongs among all the other filesystem specific stuff that gparted currently has specified as: Suggests: xfsprogs, reiserfsprogs, reiser4progs, jfsutils, ntfs-3g, dosfstools, mtools, yelp, kpartx, dmraid, dmsetup, gpart (I could ofcourse be wrong in that gparted somehow has a special relation to ext* filesystems, but from a very quick look at the code I couldn't find anything that suggested that.)
