But you have access to the source code, everything is in the popularity-contest package. Basically that amount to change popcon to produce a correct compressed attachement (base64'ed), and the server to recognize it and parse it. > > I proposed a solution, but the other popcon maintainer disagreed, so > > I did not it implement it. > > > Why? Are there any problems with doing so? I proposed to put the base64 of the .gz in the body of the email between specific delimiter (like POPCON-COMPRESSED-0 ... END-POPCON-COMPRESSED-0) and not make a full-blown MIME attachment (which is harder to implement). Petter did not like it, because it make harder to read the email manually. > > However the current popcon server (gluck.debian.org, aka > > people.debian.org and a dozen other vhost) is a bit overloaded > > currently so I am careful about not making change that would increase > > the resource usage. > > > But it will decrease the network usage. Apparently bandwidth is not a issue for gluck. > If there is really no solution available, you should tag this bug "wontfix" > with an final statement. Oh, don't worry, it will be fixed eventually...
