Package: debconf
Version: 1.4.71
Severity: important

I tried the kde frontend of debconf, it is nice, but right after I had
some troubles with xorg server and ati drivers , and it was very hard
to get back to a normal situation because each time I tried to
reinstall debian's xserver-xorg package, the installation failed with
an error message telling that some program could not connect to X
server.
The X server was not running and not able to run at this time.

I think that debconf should use the kde frontend when it is set AND
when the X server is available, and should fall back to dialog or
another console compatible frontend when X isn't available instead of
just aborting.
