The mere fact that this _intent_ has not been imlemented for five years
now doesn't mean that the issue is not relevant anymore!

Giving people another month to come up with a solution five years after
stating an intent that has not been implemented sounds somehow cynic to
me.

Apart from this, giving the availability of a Ubuntu minimal install as
the rationale for closing a bug in Debian might be considered
questionable.
