Package: backup2l
Version: 1.6-1
Severity: important
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

The backup2l script cannot correctly restore files with '[' or ']' brackets in
the filename. Example output:

#v+
backup2l v1.5 by Gundolf Kiefer

Active files in <all.1>: 69665
  found in all.1: 69665 ( 0 left)

Restoring 13359 directories...
Restoring files...
  all.1.tar.gz: 69665 file(s) using 'DRIVER_TAR_GZ'
tar: path/to/file/with/filename-with-\\[brackets\\]: Not found in archive
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors
#v-

The problem is already reported multiple times in the upstream issue page on
GitHub:

    https://github.com/gkiefer/backup2l/issues/4
    https://github.com/gkiefer/backup2l/issues/5
    https://github.com/gkiefer/backup2l/issues/12

This issue makes the script useful only in certain cases, it seems that if the
file with brackets is early enough in the tarball archive, the only way to
restore the files is to do it manually by hand.

Thanks for your work on Debian,
Maciej Delmanowski
