It is the last thing keeping gksu in Debian unstable. The Debian GNOME team wants gksu removed since it is unmaintained and there are better ways (PolicyKit) to do security-sensitive actions. network-config's last upstream release was 10 years ago. network-config was orphaned in 2015 and then adopted by a Debian contributor. Since that initial upload, there have been no more uploads of the package. network-config was removed from Testing 6 months ago because of the gksu issue (bug originally filed almost 2 years ago). I emailed the Debian maintainer December 31 warning him about my intent to remove this package from Debian. I sent a follow-up two weeks later and again today.
