I don't really see how mentioning a few names of people who happen to be mentioned in the headers of files really helps Debian much. There are lots of other contributors to this package (include the current maintainer) that aren't listed in those headers. Debian Policy § 12.5 is not so specific to make this particular case an RC issue. The severity of this issue isn't very important (since it's already fixed in the VCS) except that it prevented newer versions from reaching Testing which I consider to be a more important issue.
