Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Debian 10 (x86_64 in my case)
2. Install `scilab` package (from buster or from unstable)
3. Try to launch it from menu (in MATE - Applications->Other->Scilab)

Expected results:
Scilab is started, user can use it.

Actual results:
Scilab is started, shows its window with

    Startup execution:
      loading initial environment


and then closes immediately.

Notes:
Scilab starts normally from terminal, here is its output:

    libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate
