Source: connman
Version: 1.35-6
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

The first official release of iwd is now packaged and available (as of today)
in the Debian archive. Note that iwd itself should still be considered
quite young and immature (experimental?), but it works for me atleast.

The current connman version in sid has a plugin for iwd and the README
mentions it can safely be enabled alongside "wifi" (read: wpasupplicant)
support. It's said to not be enabled by default because iwd
"does not have initial release so far" which is no longer true.
(However I'm not sure if iwd has potentially had any changes between
the unreleased version the connman plugin was developed against or not.)

Please consider enabling the iwd plugin (via --enable-iwd) when building
connman to allow for easier testing. In the future you might want to
change your 'wpasupplicant' recommends to 'wpasupplicant | iwd' (because
alternative recommends are supported nowadays isn't it?).

FWIW, I've not done any deeper analysis of exactly how iwd plugin
works in connman (as I'm not using connman myself) so you might want
to look into that before trusting the claims in the README.

Regards,
Andreas Henriksson
