Are you sure that you don't talk about libsynctex***1*** here? The first version that went into unstable shipped the synctex library as libsynctex1, which was bad since upstream broke the API without soname bump. I have re-uploaded with bumped soname so now we have libsynctex2. texworks is still linked against libsynctex1, texmaker the same. Please install libsynctex***1*** from ***testing*** and all this will be fixed. Make sure by setting it to hold that it is not updated. I have already filed a request for removal for libsynctex1 from unstable.
