Package: fritzing Version: 0.9.3b+dfsg-4.1 Followup-For: Bug #893462 I just looked at the content of /usr/share/applications/fritzing.desktop (note the small f ;-P) and blinked. Seriously folks, you have two executables /usr/bin/fritzing and /usr/bin/Fritzing differing just by the case of the first letter, and of which the first segfaults when launched in the wrong directory ?!
So you can launch Fritzing from the command line just fine, on condition that you spell it with a capital F. It's just a script that cd-s into the right directory and exec-s fritzing... May I suggest renaming /usr/bin/fritzing to /usr/bin/fritzing-the-binary or /usr/bin/fritzing-please-launch-Fritzing-instead (or whatever you feel like), maybe even creating a symlink fritzing->Fritzing, so that users don't get bitten by this ? Or alternatively show a proper error message instead of segfaulting. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.4 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-6-amd64 (SMP w/16 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages fritzing depends on: ii fritzing-data 0.9.3b+dfsg-4.1 ii libc6 2.27-3 ii libgcc1 1:6.3.0-18+deb9u1 ii libgit2-26 0.26.0+dfsg.1-1.1+b2 ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl1] 13.0.6-1+b2 ii libqt5concurrent5 5.10.1+dfsg-5 ii libqt5core5a 5.10.1+dfsg-5 ii libqt5gui5 5.10.1+dfsg-5 ii libqt5network5 5.10.1+dfsg-5 ii libqt5printsupport5 5.10.1+dfsg-5 ii libqt5serialport5 5.10.1-2 ii libqt5sql5 5.10.1+dfsg-5 ii libqt5sql5-sqlite 5.10.1+dfsg-5 ii libqt5svg5 5.10.1-2 ii libqt5widgets5 5.10.1+dfsg-5 ii libqt5xml5 5.10.1+dfsg-5 ii libstdc++6 6.3.0-18+deb9u1 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.8.dfsg-5 fritzing recommends no packages.
