Package: gphoto2 Version: 2.5.11-1 Followup-For: Bug #690035 Dear Maintainer, I've found that gphoto2 incorrectly sets file timestamps when getting files from my Canon EOS 1300D camera. This lead me to short experiment: I made a shot and looked at it with gphoto2.
My setup: 1) Canon EOS 1300D with TZ set to "Paris" with DST enabled. 2) Debian Stretch with TZ set to CEST (DST enabled). 3) The shot had been taken at 23:43:14 local time. The following shows a problem with a communication between gphoto2 and the cam or a problem with the cam's firmware handling of shots' metadata: root@server:/# date Sat Jun 2 23:45:38 CEST 2018 root@server:/# gphoto2 --get-config /main/settings/datetime Label: Camera Date and Time Type: DATE Current: 1527975994 Printable: Sat Jun 2 23:46:34 2018 Help: Use 'now' as the current time when setting. root@server:/# gphoto2 --list-files There is no file in folder '/'. There is no file in folder '/store_00020001'. There is no file in folder '/store_00020001/DCIM'. There is 1 file in folder '/store_00020001/DCIM/100CANON'. #1 IMG_0419.JPG rd 2769 KB image/jpeg There is no file in folder '/store_00020001/MISC'. root@server:/# gphoto2 --show-info 1 Information on file 'IMG_0419.JPG' (folder '/store_00020001/DCIM/100CANON'): File: Mime type: 'image/jpeg' Size: 2834984 byte(s) Downloaded: no Permissions: read/delete Time: Sun Jun 3 01:43:14 2018 Thumbnail: Mime type: 'application/x-unknown' Audio data: None available. root@server:/# We see the file's timestamp is exactly 2 hours ahead the moment is had been taken which matches an offset between CEST with DST and UTC. I am not quite sure if this is gphoto's timestamp handling problem or the firmware's timestamping problem. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.3 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-5-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=ru_RU.utf8, LC_CTYPE=ru_RU.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=ru_RU.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages gphoto2 depends on: ii libaa1 1.4p5-44+b1 ii libc6 2.24-11+deb9u1 ii libcdk5 5.0.20161210-1 ii libexif12 0.6.21-2+b2 ii libgphoto2-6 2.5.12-1 ii libgphoto2-port12 2.5.12-1 ii libjpeg62-turbo 1:1.5.1-2 ii libncurses5 6.0+20161126-1+deb9u1 ii libpopt0 1.16-10+b2 ii libreadline7 7.0-3 gphoto2 recommends no packages.
