Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

Ran with a 4.17.0 kernel for about 2 hours:

The problems were reduced (although for most of its life this motherboard
seems to be a second or few out when I stop ntpd and run ntpdate, unlike
another machine here running an i386 kernel).

   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
