Justin, Thanks for pointing this out. I have made a change along the lines you suggest to exec.3 (not execl.3, as you suggest -- is that a Debianism?). The change will be in upstream 2.26. For my benefit, and perhaps others, it would be nice to have patches inline, not as attachments.
