I have the same problem on a desktop and on a laptop running KDE since yesterday. It doesn't seem to me pulseaudio updated, but maybe some library or anything else... lspci still see audio hardware, but on Audio Volume -> Advance I have "No Device Profiles Available": it seems sound system can't see hardware. Re-enabling autospawn didn't work for me.
I set auto-spawn and reinstalled removed packages, but this (only) didn't solve my problem. Then with a lsof /dev/snd/pcm* as suggested somewhere else I noticed these devices where locked by timidity. With a service timidity stop I finally solved my problem. Then I uninstalled timidity, I don't even know if I ever used it. I hope this helps.
