Indeed, in my amd64 laptop running debian testing:

$ gcc -Wl,--as-needed -x c /dev/null -lc -shared -o build-libccheck.so
$ ldd build-libccheck.so
       statically linked

This breaks the ability to build the posix preloader, as we cannot find the libc soname from this (libc is not linked in, despite the -lc).

clang does not exhibit this behaviour, but that might be a matter of time.


I've submitted a different fix in the "next" branch, which makes the dummy library actually use a libc function, so it has to be linked in.
This _should_ make the build a bit more robust in a more generic way.
