It would have been nice if this had been CC'd on the bug report so I had

Yes, there is the patch that fixes it, and from 1.7 it is in the release
instructions that tests should pass with PyPy before releasing.

Currently, the pypy-stem package is broken in unstable. The correct
thing to do would have been either to not upload the pypy package, or do
upload the pypy package with this patch applied. Only half the job was
done, this upload finishes it.

The patch is not required with 1.7 as it would be included. Once 1.7 is
released the patch can be safely removed.
