Package: firefox-esr Version: 60.1.0esr-3 Severity: normal X-Debbugs-CC: gland...@debian.org
Dear firefox-esr maintainers, I am reporting a problem about WM_CLASS; for its background, please take a look at obsoleted https://bugs.debian.org/682371 and freedesktop.org Startup Notification Specification [1]. TL;DR: * Current WM_CLASS for firefox-esr: WM_CLASS(STRING) = "Navigator", "Firefox" * StartupWMClass as written in firefox-esr.desktop: "Firefox-esr" * Buggy result: Multiple firefox-like icons will appear on modern desktop task lists (e.g., GNOME Shell) * Solution: Either patch firefox-esr src and set its WM_CLASS back to Firefox- esr, or modify firefox-esr.desktop and set StartupWMClass=Firefox (I personally dislike this since it will cause confusion when firefox and firefox-esr are coinstalled). P.S. I will close #682371 now since iceweasel has disappeared for ages. -- Regards, Boyuan Yang [1] https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Specifications/startup-notification-spec/
