I've noticed the Debian package of xscreensaver is somewhat lagging
behind the upstream version in "unstable". I also noticed you have done
good work in the git repository to package 5.39.
I have taken that work and added packaging of 5.40 on top of that. In
accordance with the "collab-maint" policies, I have also pushed the
results to the git repository.
I would be happy to sponsor an upload if that is what is holding you
from publishing those goods in the Debian archive. If you are not
available, I will proceed with a non-maintainer upload within four weeks
unless otherwise advised.
