libavcodec58 is never directly encoded into the source package. The
dependency comes from automatic tools (probably dh_shlibdeps).
Please, open a bug against libavcodec-dev (the build dependency of
my package) so that this package provides a *.symbol or *.shlibs file
that encodes this alternative dependency for all packages built with
libavcodec-dev.
Documentation about this feature can be found into the deb-shlibs(5)
and/or deb-symbols(5) manpages.
Alternatively, libavcodec-extra58 can provide libavcodec58.
Once libavcodec-dev is fixed, ping this bug so that I rebuild this
package with the new, fixed libavcodec-dev package.
Regards,
Vincent
PS: if what I tell you above is totally not understandable, tell me
so that I directly contact libavcodec-dev maintainers when I will have
time.
