Hello, I think a good start is to answer to these questions: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=902981#57 Remember that DFSG is a guidelines (not a set of rules), so Debian community will decide if version 5 is free/acceptable or not. You may have to convince us that your package is "libre" ;-). Personally, I stopped font-awesome upgrade to version 4.7 in my projects (https://lemonldap-ng.org Web-SSO for example). Another solution is to use "non-free" branch. This is not part of Debian release but is distributed in parallel. Note also that in this case, every package which depend on version 5 will be forced out of Debian release to fall back to "contrib" branch. Cheers, Xavier
