In the meantime, there was a new version of the original progressbar released in June, apparently with better Python 3 support: https://pypi.org/project/progressbar/#history I didn't dig into the details, but progressbar2 seems indeed better maintained and better documented than the original project, and it would be worth considering its inclusion into Debian. Maybe the author could be convinced to change the namespace to "progressbar2" or something else? Cheers, Matteo
