Package: pypanel
Version: 2.4-1
Severity: minor
Description reads:
Description: lightweight panel/taskbar for X11 window managers
PyPanel is a lightweight panel/taskbar written in Python and C
for X11 window managers. It can be easily customized to match any
desktop theme or taste. PyPanel works with WindowMaker and EWMH
compliant WMs (Kahakai, Openbox, PekWM, FVWM, etc).
Remove word "lightweigh" from texts. There is nothing ligh weight
with the python based applications. The Description string is
misleading. It should be better be labelled "mid weight".
REASONING
The memory usage of pypanel is
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
10284 jaalto 16 0 9864 6264 3116 T 0.0 1.9 0:01.64 pypanel
This is nothing to be called "lightweight", because if compared to this:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
28445 foo 17 0 13468 6428 4828 S 0.0 2.0 0:01.21 fbpanel
And to known small window managers:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
728 foo 15 0 6300 3564 2748 S 0.0 1.1 0:00.75 icewm
pypanel takes 6M reserved alone, which is 2 x more that icewm which
includes panel of its own.
