I didn't explicitly try your build, but I've rebuilt colmap 3.6 from source a while ago (since I've also reported the bug upstream) and it doesn't "crash" anymore. However, the GUI is left in a broken state. The progress window doesn't respond anymore after a bogus completion message. If you manually close it, the log is still visible and shows that SiftGPU is not supported. It could be better, but at least the error message is visible, which allows someone to continue.
