I had a look at this, specifically with regard to moving on to drf-extensions 

drf-extensions 0.4 builds OK with django 1.11 anyway, so is a different
way of fixing this bug, and I know that other tools people want to use
need 0.4 so upgrading is probably a good idea. I don't know if there
are reasons not to? I don't see any obvious ones.

I propose to NMU this to 0.4 (delayed/7) unless someone objects.
