Package: gaim-hotkeys
Version: 0.1.3-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I use Ion3 as my windows manager (no desktop enviornment). Ion3 is a
light-weight tabbed/tiled WM, very much in the spirit of GNU Screen.

Here's the problem I'm seeing. I can use a hot-key to toggle the buddy
list. However, if I want to send a message to someone, I hit enter on
whomever in the list and a message window pops up. But the buddy list
is still in the "background" (this is Ion3, so it's shown as an inactive
tab). At this point, the buddy list isn't really of much use to me
anymore, but my hotkey won't close it. Instead, I need to activate the
list, and /then/ the hotkey works. But at that point, I can just use
Ion's "close" hot-key. It would be more convenient if I could close
the list while another window is active.

I verified that this problem does not surface in KDE (didn't try GNOME). I
imagine less bugs have been filed against gaim-hotkeys because it's been
mostly tested on GNOME and KDE. Still, though, I think it's probably
possible to get it working with the smaller WM's as well.

If I find the time, I'll try to look at gaim-hotkey's source to see if I
can find there the problem is exactly.
