Package: seaview
Version: 20021127-4.1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

Sorry for sending many bugs, I hope it helps to separate the questions.

There is a new upstream version available for seaview.

ftp://pbil.univ-lyon1.fr/pub/mol_phylogeny/seaview/seaview.tar

This version adds the possibility to output in PDF, but does so by
linking to a non-free library, pdflib (bugs.debian.org/97877). This
library is not packaged officialy in debian, but there is a custom
package ready:

http://www-ps.kek.jp/thitoshi/debian/

As the changelog of seaview does not go back to 2002, I do not know what
are the other improvements.

So the big question is: is it better to stick to the free version of
seaview, or to upgrade to the non-free one if pdflib were to enter in
Debian?

Best Regards,
