I was also a user of keepassx. Its bugs and continual crashes were a real annoyance, so I was always on the lookout for a more stable, 100% compatible replacement. I found one, or more accurately one arrived in Debian. keepassxc is fork of keepassx, is in buster and now also strech- backports, works fine with on the same files keepassx used, and hasn't crashed yet. There is no reason for anyone to be too concerned over the fate of keepassx.
