libgphoto2 2.1.99 has a --fdi option; would this be similar. From
2.1.99-2 it is used this way:
/usr/lib/libgphoto2/print-usb-usermap --fdi > \
/usr/share/hal/fdi/information/20thirdparty/libgphoto2.fdi
Would moving it to preprobe suffice for you ?
I understand this won't be considered for Ubuntu since it is probably
frozen but I don't want to maintain two different ways to to things
(and I hope 2.2 will soon be released).
