I am also bitten by this, so I had a look at the source and found the fix, only to find later that it had already been fixed in git: https://salsa.debian.org/debian/dput/commit/f2d1703f9f69ab515abc51232e41796bc5ce4d63 Can we get this uploaded to sid so it has a chance to be included in buster?
