Package: gnome-panel Version: 2.8.3-1 Followup-For: Bug #325350 If using sawfish, add and name the workspaces in the sawfish config app (apps->desktop pref->Windows, workspaces tab) then when you exit save current setup. Then it should work. Same problem solved on two machines by this method.
