DESCRIPTION FROM UPSTREAM:
Hi,
How would you feel about a GSettings backend for storing and loading
configuration options? At Hypra we need to ship some config overrides
targeting visually impaired users, and GSettings provides a pretty neat way of
shipping vendor overrides, as well as integrating well with the DEs like GNOME
or MATE. GSettings also supports runtime changes already, as well as
command-line and graphical tools to read an manipulate the values.
GSettings also has backends itself, and can use INI-like files, in-memory only,
or RPC-based methods like dconf for storage, which allows for a wide variety of
use cases.
Compiz 0.9 has a GSettings backend, and although I'm not sure it's the best
implementation it works fairly well, although it looks a bit over-engineered.
What do you think about this? Would it be possible to add a GSettings backend,
and where would you see it?
