No, I confirm that the error is related to using sbuild + overlayfs.

My annoyance, however, comes from the fact that every time something
like this happened in the past it was because the tarball was
generated using "find * -type f | tar blah" (i.e. excluding directory entries).

The workaround was to include directory entries as well, making it an
"orthodox" tarball.

In this case the tarball seems to be sane, and there is no workaround other
than adding oxygen-icons5 to my "do-not-use-overlay-for-this-package" list.

Is dpkg in buster calling tar with any options that makes this
behaviour to happen more easily? Is tar in buster more prone to this
failure when using overlayfs?
