   * What led up to the situation?
Tried to replay a video (launching xine) on my bustre installation. I also 
tried VLC media player with the same result. 
I suspect anything using hardware acceleration (video, 3D...) will fail the 
same way.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
Launched xine.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
Graphics freeze, the keyboard and mouse also freeze. I did not manage to get 
back to a tty using ctrl+Fn. I had to punch the powre button
(short press) to get the system to make an orderly shutdown.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Successfully playing videos (and anything using my Nvidia grphics board) 
without hanging the system up.
