Package: mpg123
Version: 1.25.10-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

I wanted to play some music on my freshly set up laptop, and my usual approach
is to
type 'mpg123 -Z *.mp3'. However, no matter which mp3 file I played (out
of 100+), they all came out sounding like static. Running 'mplayer
*.mp3' and 'mpg321 -Z *.mp3' worked correctly, and music played. Typing
'file *.mp3' shows the files are this type:

file *.mp3 | cut -d: -f2- | sed 's/^ *//' | sort | uniq -c
      1 Audio file with ID3 version 2.4.0, contains:MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1,
160 kbps, 48 kHz, Stereo
     11 Audio file with ID3 version 2.4.0, contains:MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1,
64 kbps, 44.1 kHz, Stereo
     48 Audio file with ID3 version 2.4.0, contains:MPEG ADTS, layer III, v1,
64 kbps, 48 kHz, Stereo

It's not clear what's going wrong.
