Package: ifupdown
Version: 0.8.35

Since Version 0.8.35 ifupdown uses DUID for dhclient, which was
introduced based on this bug: #906894
And if I examine the source code correctly this DUID option (-i) for
dhclient is hardcoded into the ifupdown binary.
Unfortunately our DHCP-Servers in the company network aren't able to
identfy clients based on the DUID. They can only handle old fashioned
EUI-64. Which leads to the issue that Debian Buster isn't working in
our network out of the box, because the clients aren't getting any IP.

As a Workaround I could just uninstall "isc-dhcp-client" and instead
install for example "pump". But I don't think this is the best
solution.
Can't we introduce an option to disable DUID or something else which
could help deal with this issue?

Thanks in advance.
Dirk
