Package: lvm2 Version: 2.02.168-2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
After adding a total of 12 PV to a secondary VG (primary VG is the "root/swap" VG) and rebooting, the system is unable to mount the root filesystem and drops me to the initramfs shell after ~3 minutes (180 seconds). I can easily reproduce this by simply adding one PV to a 11 disks VG and reboot. No need to build any LV on the VG. No problem with 11 PVs (+1 PV in root VG), root is mounted in less than 4 seconds. Adding rootdelay=100 helps to not be dropped to the initramfs shell. But i then have to wait more than 3 minutes to boot. Typing "exit" at initramfs prompt let the system boot correctly if we have wait long enough. The system is on VMware. I was not able to reproduce the problem on a 3.10.0 kernel (on RedHat 7.6). I expect to not have to wait for more than three minutes for the root filesystem to be mounted when i add only one disk to a VG and reboot. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.9 APT prefers oldstable APT policy: (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-9-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages lvm2 depends on: ii dmeventd 2:1.02.137-2 ii dmsetup 2:1.02.137-2 ii init-system-helpers 1.48 ii libblkid1 2.29.2-1+deb9u1 ii libc6 2.24-11+deb9u4 ii libdevmapper-event1.02.1 2:1.02.137-2 ii libdevmapper1.02.1 2:1.02.137-2 ii liblvm2app2.2 2.02.168-2 ii libreadline5 5.2+dfsg-3+b1 ii libudev1 232-25+deb9u11 ii lsb-base 9.20161125 lvm2 recommends no packages.
