I have filed a package removal request for spe (bug #933504), because it appears to be unsupported upstream and there's no evidence that a Python 3 version is under development. I CC'd the maintainers and uploaders.
I NMU'd python-mode a few minutes ago to remove the recommendation on pychecker. The package existed for several years without this recommendation early in its life. The main consequence is that users will get an error if they try to run a pychecker-related command without having pychecker installed. Users can always install pychecker manually if they want to keep using it. I added documentation in the README.Debian about this and pointed users at pylint instead. I'll remove the moreinfo tag on this bug if/when the package removal for spe is executed. KEN -- Kenneth J. Pronovici <prono...@debian.org>
