Sorry for late response. Martin Pitt, I do understand proposal to drop "logrotate snippet". Do you refer to "savelog" in /etc/init.d/bootlogs? Why would initscripts drop it? Dear submitter, Generally, it is expected behaviour that purging package leaves its logs behind. I have to admit, that figuring out who owns /var/log/dmesg is not very oblivious. What about postrm script of bin:initscripts printing lists of files that were left behind? Would it be solution for you? -- Note, that I send and fetch email in batch, once in a few days.
