Thank you so much for your detailed answer! Adding "jarwrapper" to my runtime dependencies and changing "debian/salliere.links" to "usr/share/salliere/salliere.jar usr/bin/salliere.jar" solved my issue.
Nevertheless, the tutorial should also use the full path for destination as required by dh_link: "Be sure you do specify the full filename to both the source and destination files" (http://man.he.net/man1/dh_link).
