I think at the moment we don't have people in the Debian GNOME team
maintaining backports. I guess you could give it a try if you commit
to maintaining the backported packages.


Yes, I already maintain many ruby and node packages in backports so I'm familiar with the process. I have to maintain a personal backport of geary anyway (I'm already using my personal backport on a daily basis), so it won't be any extra effort for me to maintain it officially. I have already requested access to gnome-team on salsa, please approve or at least add me to geary repo so I can maintain a branch there for backports.

Note that geary's build tests fail on s390x (so we will be removing
geary/s390x from Bullseye). Also note that geary 3.34 requires
libhandy which is not available in Buster. There is a libhandy git
subproject available, but we remove it for Bullseye to avoid an
"embedded code copy".


I have already backported libhandy and it is in backports-new.
